GeForce Now is getting support for the Steam Controller
Nvidia's GeForce Now will add official support for Valve's Steam Controller and Steam Machine later in 2026, with Windows and macOS support arriving after that.
Nvidia's GeForce Now cloud gaming service will officially support Valve's Steam Controller and Steam Machine later this year, the company announced, per The Verge.
The Steam Controller support will allow players to use Valve's gamepad when running GeForce Now on a Steam Deck or Steam Machine. For users on Windows or macOS, Steam Controller support is coming "later," Nvidia says, without specifying a timeline beyond the broader 2026 window. The announcement was part of Nvidia's Gamescom 2026 GeForce news.
Beyond controller support, GeForce Now is also picking up additional DLSS 4.5 controls, according to The Verge. Nvidia plans to add new settings for DLSS Super Resolution, Dynamic Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction. Ray Reconstruction is separately launching for RTX GPUs in early access, though the source cuts off before full details are provided.
The Steam Controller itself is a relatively recent re-entry for Valve — The Verge reviewed the new gamepad and described it favorably. GeForce Now has previously been tested on the Steam Deck, with hands-on coverage from The Verge noting the compatibility between the two platforms. Adding native Steam Controller recognition closes a gap for users who want to use Valve hardware end-to-end with Nvidia's streaming service.
No pricing changes or new subscription tiers were mentioned in connection with these updates. Nvidia did not provide a specific release date for the Steam Controller support beyond "later this year" for Steam Deck and Steam Machine, and an unspecified later window for Windows and macOS.
