Ribbit Capital Sells Groww Shares Worth ₹2,217 Cr
Ribbit Capital offloaded 11.31 crore Groww shares via two bulk deals on August 26, collecting ₹2,217 Cr — about 2% of the listed fintech's equity.
Ribbit Capital sold 11.31 crore shares of Groww across two bulk deals on August 26, netting ₹2,217.3 Cr (~2% of the company's equity), per Inc42 citing NSE market data.
The two transactions were executed through separate Ribbit entities: Ribbit Capital V sold 6.3 crore shares at ₹196 apiece, while Ribbit Cayman GW Holdings V sold nearly 5 crore shares at ₹196.06 apiece — both at less than a 0.1% discount to the day's closing price, according to Inc42. The identities of the buyers were not discernible at the time of reporting. Separately, Groww disclosed that Vikas Singh — brother of CTO Neeraj Singh and a promoter group member — released 10 lakh equity shares to Infina Finance Pvt Ltd on August 18.
Ribbit Capital held approximately 10.1% or 63.35 crore shares in Groww via its two entities as of June 30, 2026, per Inc42. The US-based fintech investor led Groww's $21.3 million Series B round in 2019 and had already raised ₹854.7 Cr by selling shares through the offer-for-sale component of Groww's IPO. In May, it offloaded 14.2 crore shares worth ₹2,567.1 Cr in open-market transactions following the expiry of the six-month IPO lock-in period.
The August 26 sale is part of a broader wave of secondary exits by Groww's early backers. Last week, Y Combinator sold 7.47 crore shares for ₹1,435.2 Cr, and earlier in June, Friale sold 1.13 crore shares to Goldman Sachs in a block deal worth ₹210.4 Cr, per Inc42.
On the financial front, Groww's consolidated net profit rose 94.3% to ₹735 Cr in Q1 FY27, while revenue from operations climbed 66% to ₹1,501.4 Cr in the same quarter, per Inc42. The stock is up more than 26% year-to-date and over 32% since its listing, though it ended the August 26 session 3.3% lower at ₹196.24 on the NSE — a move the outlet attributed to the bulk deal activity.
