Developer douglasdemoura launched Chroncal, an open-source terminal user interface (TUI) and CLI for calendar management, posting the project to Hacker News on August 26, 2026, per the Show HN submission.

The tool, available at the Chroncal GitHub repository, supports the iCalendar standard (RFC 5545) and CalDAV sync for connecting to remote calendar servers. It uses SQLite as its local data store. The author also released a companion project, chroncal-bar, a plugin that integrates Chroncal into Quickshell for users of the Omarchy environment.

According to the HN post, the author has been building Chroncal for several weeks. A stated design goal is to make CLI commands and the underlying SQLite database easy for LLMs to auto-discover and interact with, positioning the tool at the intersection of terminal workflows and AI agent tooling — alongside the more conventional TUI for human users.

The project is in early feedback-seeking stage; the author explicitly asked the Hacker News community for bug reports and input on missing features. No version number, license details, or contributor count were mentioned in the submission.
