CtrlS DataCenters raised ₹250 Cr (about $26.1 Mn) in equity funding from two individual investors, per Inc42. Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath contributed ₹200 Cr, with the remaining ₹50 Cr coming from Sreeram Reddy Vanga, cofounder of adtech firm Kofluence.
The Hyderabad-based data centre operator says it plans to use the fresh capital to scale its infrastructure and capacity build-out, targeting the surging enterprise and hyperscaler demand as AI, cloud, and digital workloads grow across India, according to Inc42.
Founded in 2007 by Sridhar Pinnapureddy, CtrlS currently operates 19 data centre campuses across nine hubs in India — including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Noida, and Bengaluru — with a total compute capacity of 370 MW and 4.4 GW of projects at various stages of execution. The company is also developing a 150 MW hyperscale campus in Chonburi's Eastern Economic Corridor of Digital (EECd) in Thailand. Its portfolio includes a green data centre in Hyderabad built in partnership with Flipkart in 2019. This round follows a larger commitment: in June, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) committed up to ₹7,000 Cr at a valuation of $4.8 Bn, as Inc42 reported.
CtrlS's broader target is to install 4 GW of capacity by 2031, positioning itself to capture India's AI-driven data centre demand. India's total data centre capacity is expected to cross 8 GW by 2030, per Inc42. The company is also eyeing expansion into the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Competition in the space is intensifying: the World Bank's IFC committed $371 Mn to Sify Technologies' subsidiary to develop two data centres in Navi Mumbai and Chennai, while Adani Group partnered with Jabil Inc to build AI and data centre infrastructure in India. Meta tied up with Reliance Industries to set up its first AI-enabled data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, with 168 MW of initial capacity, and Amazon has committed $12.7 Bn toward cloud infrastructure in India by 2030.
The company's stated next step is continued capacity expansion domestically and entry into international markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with the Thailand campus already underway as an early test of its overseas ambitions.
