How AI Helped The Bear House Grow Its Conversions 5X
Indian D2C menswear brand The Bear House says deploying Glance's AI shopping agent lifted conversions 5X and average order value from ₹2,000 to ₹3,500.
The Bear House, an Indian D2C fashion brand, reported a 5X increase in conversions after deploying the AI shopping agent built by Glance, the consumer technology platform from InMobi Group, according to Inc42. The figures were shared publicly at the seventh edition of Inc42's The D2C & Retail Summit 2026 in a fireside chat titled "How Agentic Commerce Will Change The Way India Shops."
Harsh Somaiya, cofounder of The Bear House, said the brand had struggled with three challenges typical for D2C fashion labels: low conversions, short on-site dwell time and high return rates. Before deploying the Glance agent, customers spent 30–50 seconds on the website, picked a single product and checked out. After deployment, per Inc42, time spent on site more than tripled, customers began purchasing complete looks rather than individual items, and average order value rose from ₹2,000 to ₹3,500. The virtual try-on feature alone reduced returns by 20%, Somaiya said.
Glance's AI shopping agent works by reading signals — consumer preferences, budget, context and appearance — to recommend products, assemble full outfits and enable virtual try-ons, rather than requiring customers to run their own searches and comparisons. Piyush Shah, cofounder of InMobi and Glance, described the underlying premise at the summit: consumers no longer need to navigate every stage of the purchase journey, and instead can express an intent — such as what they want to wear to a specific event — and let the agent handle the rest, per Inc42.
Shah framed the shift as a move from product discovery to intent-led shopping, arguing that as AI removes layers of search, comparison and evaluation, brands that understand the reason behind a purchase will hold an advantage in the next phase of ecommerce. He added that brands will need to focus less on driving traffic to their own websites and more on being the best answer when a customer expresses a specific intent, according to Inc42.
Beyond conversion metrics, the data generated by the agent carries a secondary value for The Bear House: the intent signals customers express while shopping can inform future product decisions, giving the brand a clearer read on what consumers actually want to wear before committing to new inventory.
