Dutch AI-native financial services startup Neno secures €6.6M for European expansion
Amsterdam's Neno raised a €6.6M seed round to expand its AI-native accounting and tax platform for European SMEs.
Neno, an Amsterdam-based AI-native financial services company, raised €6.6 million in seed funding, per Tech.eu. The round will fund technology development, expanded accounting and tax services, and entry into additional European markets.
The round was led by New York-based early-stage venture fund AlleyCorp, with participation from Motive Partners, Firstminute Capital, and a group of angel investors. The angels include executives from Hugging Face, Mollie, Juni, Deel, Miro, Coinbase, PayPal, and Navro, according to Tech.eu.
Neno launched in the first quarter of 2026 and provides AI-native financial services to small and medium-sized enterprises, combining accounting, tax, and financial administration on a single platform. The company has grown to nearly 200 customers since launch. Its core product is an agentic general ledger (AGL) that pulls in data from business bank accounts, corporate cards, bill payments, and receivables into one system of record. The platform uses that data to automate reconciliation and VAT preparation, which Neno says it can complete up to five times faster than traditional methods, while customers save an average of eight hours of administrative work per month and roughly 20 percent on annual accounting fees.
Rather than displacing accountants, Neno positions its technology as a capacity multiplier. "We do not replace accountants, but we expand their capacity. This enables a single Neno accountant to manage hundreds of customers instead of the traditional thirty, without compromising on advisory quality," founder and CEO Nick Knuppe said, as quoted by Tech.eu.
The company operates in a large and fragmented market. More than half of Europe's 26 million SMEs outsource accounting, payroll, and tax obligations to professional service providers — an industry Tech.eu reports is worth around €200 billion annually. Neno cites a shortage of accounting professionals and siloed workflows across banking, accounting, tax, and payroll as structural pressures on the traditional service model.
The new capital will support the launch of Neno Labs, an internal R&D unit focused on Ambient AI research. Neno also plans to grow its accounting, tax, and go-to-market teams, and is targeting expansion into additional European markets in 2027, per Tech.eu.
