NanoClaw comes to Slack, letting you create persistent AI agent teams and colleagues from a single message

NanoCo's NanoClaw now integrates with Slack, letting a single prompt spin up persistent, individually addressable AI agent teams that run on the user's own infrastructure.

NanoCo launched a Slack Marketplace integration for NanoClaw on August 20, 2026, allowing users to create entire teams of persistent AI agents — each with its own name, generated avatar, memory context, and permissions — directly from a single Slack message, per VentureBeat.

The integration works through a one-time workspace authorization. Once connected, a lead agent gains a Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool that can spawn additional agents, assign them roles, skills, and toolsets, and place them into shared Slack channels or Canvases — without requiring the user to go back through manual app configuration for each new agent. The agents connect to Slack over Socket Mode and run entirely on the customer's own infrastructure; NanoCo says it does not store users' Slack tokens. A small NanoCo-operated cloud service handles Slack provisioning requests and avatar generation but does not receive user messages or agent memory, CEO and co-founder Gavriel Cohen told VentureBeat. The same agents can also be reached on Telegram and WhatsApp, sharing the same memory and workspace across platforms while maintaining separate per-channel sessions.

NanoClaw launched on January 31, 2026, under the MIT License as a sandboxed, lower-code alternative to OpenClaw, built by Cohen, a former Wix engineer, around a core of roughly 500 lines of TypeScript, per VentureBeat. The project added a Docker partnership in March for MicroVM-backed sandbox isolation, then NanoClaw 2.0 in April, which layered in Vercel's Chat SDK and OneCLI's credential gateway. By May, Cohen and his brother Lazer Cohen had formed NanoCo and raised a $12 million seed round led by Valley Capital Partners, with Docker, Vercel, and monday.com among the participants. The company now reports 250,000 downloads and 30,000 GitHub stars.

The Slack launch sits inside a broader opening by Salesforce-owned Slack, which announced support for external AI agents in April, initially naming Vercel and Lovable. Salesforce's Slack Code page now lists NanoClaw alongside Lovable, Hyperagent, Superhuman, n8n, Vercel, ChatGPT, LangChain, Runlayer, and Skydive. Slack already supports ChatGPT workspace agents, Claude, and custom Agentforce agents. NanoCo's stated differentiator — that an already-running agent can spawn additional, independently addressable teammates from within the conversation itself — is the company's own market-first claim, as VentureBeat notes. "Add to Slack means one message can spin up a full team of NanoClaw agents, working right alongside people in Slack," Josh Milas, director of product management at Slack, said in the supplied announcement.

NanoCo is not charging for the Slack integration and says it is absorbing the provisioning and avatar-generation costs, framing it as a community release rather than a monetization move. Users still bear their own model inference and hosting costs. Cohen said the company's commercial model centers on managed, organization-wide deployments and enterprise "professional assistant" infrastructure, keeping NanoClaw itself open source. "In the next 12 to 18 months, everyone on a team will be a manager of agents," he told VentureBeat. The integration is available now through the Slack Marketplace, subject to standard workspace app-approval policies.
