Info Edge To Acquire Remaining 45% Stake In Coding Ninjas For ₹40 Cr
Info Edge will buy the remaining 45.36% of coding bootcamp Coding Ninjas for ₹39.9 Cr in an all-cash deal, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Info Edge, the Sanjeev Bikhchandani-led internet company behind Naukri.com, is acquiring the remaining 45.36% stake in edtech upskilling platform Coding Ninjas for ₹39.9 Cr in an all-cash deal, per an exchange filing reported by Inc42. The transaction will give Info Edge 100% ownership of the startup.
Per the exchange filing cited by Inc42, Info Edge's board approved the purchase of 74,741 shares from Coding Ninjas' founders at ₹5,340.23 per share. The deal will be executed in multiple tranches: 25% of the total (₹9.98 Cr) will be disbursed at the closing of the share purchase agreement, and the remaining 75% (₹29.9 Cr) will be paid in three equal tranches between 2027 and 2029. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to complete within 45 days. Post-closing, Coding Ninjas will be held via Info Edge's subsidiary Startup Investments (Holding) Ltd. The cofounders will remain employed by Info Edge and receive "certain salary and performance incentive" during their tenure, per Inc42.
Coding Ninjas was founded in 2016 by Ankur Singla, Kannu Mittal, and Dhawal Parate. The platform offers coding bootcamps and certification courses across data science, software development, AI, and other emerging technologies. Info Edge first invested $5.2 Mn in the startup during its Series A in 2020, according to Inc42. In 2022, the company infused an additional ₹135.4 Cr through a mix of primary and secondary transactions, raising its stake to 51% from 26%, and subsequently increased its ownership further through follow-on deals. According to Info Edge's latest filings as reported by Inc42, Coding Ninjas posted a net loss of ₹13.4 Cr in FY26, while its turnover held flat at ₹97.4 Cr year-over-year — up from ₹67.15 Cr in FY24.
Info Edge said the rationale for the full buyout centers on business synergies between Coding Ninjas and its flagship job portal Naukri. Specifically, Inc42 reports the company plans to use Coding Ninjas to build mini-AI courses for Naukri's user base. Info Edge also stated the deal is expected to unlock growth and profitability improvements at the upskilling platform.
Separately, Info Edge's board also approved an additional commitment of up to ₹180 Cr in B8 Fund I, a Category II AIF managed by its subsidiary Smartweb Internet Services, on top of the ₹250 Cr commitment approved earlier this year, per Inc42. Founded in 1995, Info Edge operates Naukri.com, Jeevansathi.com, 99acres.com, and Shiksha, and has an active startup investment portfolio. Inc42 reported last month that Info Edge has invested ₹4,900 Cr across 135 startups, with the portfolio valued at ₹41,300 Cr — an 8.4x multiple and gross IRR of approximately 33%. The company's net profit rose 35% to ₹1,762.8 Cr in FY26, with revenue up 15% year-over-year to ₹3,284.7 Cr.
